All the locals agree that this place is horrible just ask someone! The service is horrible, because the management treat the workers horribly. I have went on more than one occasion and witnessed the management yelling at the wait staff for NOTHING AT ALL! I have also overheard how underpaid all the workers are! No wonder service is such crap, employee moral is in the toilet. I am local and can tell you from talking to past employees and other locals that the food is not edible. They serve stuff that should have been thrown out days and days before. This place should be closed down but for some reason keeps passing health inspections. It makes me wonder what else they are passing to keep getting away with this. If you don't want food poisoning...go across the street and eat at Piazza's. The only good thing about this place is the booze and maybe the pizza!! I wouldn't even eat that!!
I have eaten at Caruso's 3 times in the last three months and my associates from the office have gone there a total of 5 additional times. We all agree that this restaurant is great! Definitely a place to eat in Dahlonega GA. Go there.
Caruso's & The Dahlonega Brewing Company is located just off the downtown square right in the heart of "Gold Country". The bar in connected to the restaurant part of the place called "Caruso's". The owner, Reggie Hughey actually is the brewmaster also, and usually has 3 or 4 different homemade brews on tap at any given time.
The food is typical bar fare, with an Italian flare with specialty of pizza and calzones. Nothing fancy, just good food.
The atmosphere is similar to Cheers in Boston and can get quite loud at times. The head bartender, Dusty "Tater" Tate, was a college standout baseball player a few years ago until an injury prevented him from going pro. At any given time there are sports on every flatscreen and live bands on weekend nights. The locals are friendly and the prices are the lowest in town.
